Between Flares is provided by Laura Christina Ragsdale, who is the data controller for the limited personal data described below. Between Flares is designed to be private by default, and we never sell your information.

What stays on your device

Your daily check-ins, symptom history, flare-day toolkit use, comfort checklist, and reminder preferences are saved only in your device's local storage. They are never sent to us.

What we collect

Account details (email address and sign-in credentials, or your Google/Apple sign-in identifier) — to create your account and know whether you have an active subscription. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.

Subscription status (plan, status, renewal dates) — to give you access. Legal basis: contract.

AI affirmation text — if you choose to describe symptoms for an AI-written affirmation, that text is sent to an AI provider to generate the reply and is not stored by us. Legal basis: your consent, given when you submit it.

Basic technical data (IP address, device/browser type) processed by our hosting for security and fraud prevention. Legal basis: legitimate interests.

Who we share data with

Hosting and infrastructure providers; an AI model provider (only for affirmation text you submit); Paddle, our Merchant of Record, for selling the subscription, payments, tax compliance, and invoicing; professional advisers; and authorities where required by law.

Retention

Account and subscription records are kept while your account is active and deleted or anonymised when no longer needed, except where law requires us to keep them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may access, correct, delete, or export your data, object to or restrict processing, withdraw consent, and complain to a data protection authority. Contact us to exercise these rights.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit and access controls.

Cookies

We use only essential storage needed to keep you signed in and remember on-device preferences. No advertising or analytics cookies.

Deleting your data

You can erase everything Between Flares keeps on your device — check-ins, history, saved affirmations, preferences, and AI use — anytime with "Erase everything on this device" on the home screen. Removing the app or clearing your browser data also deletes on-device data.
